Damon Murchison is President and CEO of IG Wealth Management and IGM Financial, bringing more than three decades of leadership experience across Canada’s financial services industry. A long-standing member of the IGM family of companies, he joined Mackenzie Investments in 2014 as Executive Vice-President, Head of Retail Distribution, and went on to become President and CEO of IG Wealth Management in 2020 before assuming his current role at IGM Financial in July 2026.

Known for his people-first approach, Damon leads with a clear belief that strong relationships, whether with clients, advisors, employees or shareholders, are at the heart of long-term success. His leadership is grounded in fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency and accountability, and in creating an environment where teams are empowered to deliver their best work.

Positioning IG for success

At IG Wealth Management, Damon has helped drive IG’s ongoing evolution — strengthening the firm’s position as one of Canada’s leading wealth management organizations. Under his leadership, IG has continued to invest in innovative investment solutions, advanced financial planning capabilities and technology designed to elevate both the client and advisor experience. Today, IG supports more than one million Canadians and manages over $160 billion in assets through a nationwide network of more than 3,000 advisors.

Central to Damon’s vision is a deep commitment to financial well-being. He firmly believes: “More than ever, Canadians need access to integrated, high-quality financial planning that considers every aspect of their lives. Financial well-being is a critical part of overall well-being — and achieving it requires a trusted, long-term relationship with an IG Advisor who will look at all aspects of their life and create a financial plan which will help them reach their goals throughout their lifetime.”

Damon also recognizes the growing complexity high-net-worth Canadians face, from navigating high tax environments to managing one of the largest intergenerational wealth transfers in history. This has shaped IG’s continued focus on delivering in-depth planning and advice, particularly for high-net-worth clients.

Beyond his executive role, Damon is deeply committed to community involvement and expanding opportunities for others. He serves on the board of IGM Financial and contributes to several organizations, including the George Brown College Foundation — where he received an honorary commerce degree in 2022 — as well as the BlackNorth Initiative and the United Way of Winnipeg.

Damon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western.
